Phil Brown previews Saturday's game with Bradford...
Southend host Bradford City on Saturday, which is the start of a busy week of action in the Sky Bet League One.
Blues have three games in the space of eight days to contend with and Phil Brown is gearing his side up for the challenge, with Swindon Town and Walsall up after the Bantams.
But the Blues boss is only concentrating on the visit of Stuart McCall’s Bradford, who are going well in second place.
“Three games in eight days is really going to test our squad and how strong it is.
“We’re not going to look past the first one though. That is always the most important one.
“The Bradford game [away] is fresh in our mind, being just over a month ago.
“Up until that game, Bradford were involved in a lot of 1-0’s, 2-0’s or 2-1’s. Lots of clean sheets, tight games and they didn’t have the big man James Hanson up front.
“Since then they’ve put him in there’s been 3-3’s, 3-2’s, 2-1’s, unbelievable scorelines of which they’ve been on the wrong end of a couple.
“It seems to be a different team to a month ago.”
Brown says he has some calls to make with Anthony Wordsworth coming back from suspension and Jason Demetriou from international duty.
“I’ve got a couple of decisions to make,” he added.
“One of the ones is who plays right back and another one is does Michael Timlin keep his place or does Anthony Wordsworth come back in.
“Decisions have got to be made in the next 48 hours and if I can get my strongest team out it will be a hell of a game.”
