Cast your votes...Southend United are asking supporters to vote for their DeVines Player of the Month for October.
In what was a busy schedule of seven games, Blues enjoyed a very successful month which saw them record three points against Chesterfield, a battling point at high-flying Bradford City and a comprehensive 3-0 victory away to MK Dons.
In total Blues picked up nine points in the league and also secured progression in the Checkatrade Trophy with a win against rivals Leyton Orient.
Fans can choose from the following stand-out performers.
- Mark Oxley
- Anton Ferdinand
- Anthony Wordsworth
- Nile Ranger
Mark Oxley was in great form in between the sticks throughout the month. Along with his best performance in a Southend shirt away to MK Dons, including a fine double save to keep a clean sheet, Oxley had two other shut outs against Leyton Orient and Chesterfield.
Anton Ferdinand was part of the defence for two of those three clean sheets and his calming influence to the back four has been influential for Blues over the month.
Four goals in the month have given Anthony Wordsworth the dream return from injury. His first against Peterborough almost handed Blues three points but Posh levelled late on. Wordsworth then netted at Bradford to help Blues get a point followed by a fantastic double at Stadium MK.
Nile Ranger played a big part in Blues getting seven points from nine against Chesterfield, Bradford and MK Dons. His return from injury has played a big part in Blues’ great month and he has struck up a promising partnership with Simon Cox.
