Midfielder picks up two awards at End of Season Gala Dinner

Blues Midfielder Ryan Leonard was honoured to be voted ‘Fans’ Player of the Season’ at the End of Season Gala Dinner.

Leonard has thrived in the middle of the park during the club’s first season back in Sky Bet League One, playing a pivotal role in many of the team’s successes in 2015/16.

And with the fans’ continued support Leonard is hoping the team can build on a solid first season in the third-tier and mount a promotion push in the upcoming campaign.
“It’s a massive achievement to win the award.” He said

“I would like to thank all the fans that voted first and foremost, it’s an honour to be voted Fans’ Player of the Year.

“It’s my first season in League One so to get Player of the Year in the first season is a massive achievement and I’m really thankful.

“We fell away at the end of this season but the aim for next season is to get promoted.

“The fans have been brilliant all season; They are every year to me and all of the squad.

“They’ll be there again no doubt next year and hopefully we can get promoted next year.”

As well as voting him as their standout performer, the fans also voted Leonard’s stunning strike at Sheffield United the ‘Goal of the Season’.

A goal, and a game Leonard has fond memories of, which attracted the interest of global superstar, Justin Bieber after the team produced a carbon copy of his dance moves in their celebration of the goal.

“It sat up quite nicely.

“It feels a long time ago now, but it sat up nicely and I just managed to hit it and thankfully it went in.

“It was a big goal, and a nice little celebration to go with it."
