Read about the event, hosted by Park Inn, SouthendOn Tuesday 10th May, Southend United hosted their new End of Season Gala Dinner at Park Inn, Southend.
The event was attended by all the First Team squad members, management and supporters who had been lucky enough to book a place at the prestigious evening.
Entertainment was provided by Magician Robert Dean, Musician Alton Edwards and the night was hosted by former Blues’ striker, David Crown.
Following a three-course dinner, there was a game of heads and tails and a raffle which involved some much desired prizes, including a signed photo of Dan Bentley’s Wembley penalty save and a framed Sky Bet League 2 Play-Off Winners medal and programme.
Then came the main event of the evening, the end of season awards. First up was Adam Barrett who took the prize of ‘Champagne Moment of the Season’ for his headed goal in the Essex Derby victory over Colchester United at Roots Hall in February.
Jack Payne took three awards home on Tuesday. First up was the ‘DeVines Player of the Season’ award for winning the most ‘Player of the Month’ accolades across the campaign, which was voted for by the fans via the club’s official twitter account @SUFCRootsHall.
Jack also won the ‘Players’ Player of the Year’ and ‘Young Player of the Year’ awards, recognising a fantastic season for the 21-year-old.
Ryan Leonard bagged a brace of awards, firstly the ‘Goal of the Season’ for his sensational strike against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane back in November.
Leonard then scooped the ‘Fans Player of the Year’ for a fantastic debut season in League One.
