Blues Boss looking to finish the season with a winSouthend United Manager, Phil is looking for a steely performance from his players in their final league game of the season.
Blues travel to Bury looking to sign off from their first year back in Sky Bet League 1 with a win.
It’s been an eventful campaign for the club who came within touching distance of the play-off pack before falling away in the last month.
Brown feels perhaps fatigue has played a part in the squad’s recent results, but he is determined to end a solid a campaign with three points.
“For the last three years I’ve been here, we’ve been asking these players to work hard for the cause, and they have done.
“It’s one of them where maybe we’ve beaten that drum a little bit too hard this season, and we’ve run out of a bit of steam.
“So we’ll be looking to finish the season strong with a powerful performance against Bury on Sunday.”
Goalkeeper Ted Smith made his first appearances of the season in the club’s last two matches and there was debut for academy graduate, Jack Bridge in the game against Bradford City last weekend.
With one eye on building for next season, Brown says he will be looking at potential candidates for starting positions next year at Gigg Lane, but states he will be looking for the win first and foremost.
“I’ll be trying one or two lads that I think will play a part next year.
“That’s the main issue; who will be here, who won’t be here next year and who looks like they’re playing for the badge and at this moment in time there’s quite a few of them.
“So I’m looking for a strong performance from them.
“We want people to put themselves about, impose themselves on the opposition individually and collectively and try and finish the season with a win.”
