Blues midfielder looking to finish season with a flourish.Anthony Wordsworth says he and the Blues players will continue to push for a play-off spot until the very last kick of the season.
The Southend midfielder scored his fourth goal of the season against Gillingham on Saturday, putting his team in to the lead before Luke Norris ensured a share of the spoils with a second half equaliser.
After moving a point closer to the top-six, Wordsworth was disappointed not get all three points on Saturday.
“I was a bit disappointed not to win with the chances we had at the end of the game.” He said.
“We were disappointed to concede the goal but I think a draw was probably a fair result.”
“It was important not to get beat, and a point against Gillingham is not a bad point.
Wordsworth and Southend now move on to their Easter affairs, which starts with a Good Friday trip to Rochdale before welcoming Southend United to Roots Hall on Wednesday 30th March under the lights and on the Sky Sports cameras (7:45pm).
Fresh from his goal at the weekend, the summer signing is hoping to play his part in registering further vital points for the Blues.
“We’ve got Rochdale on Friday and we’ll try and go there and get something, and then we play live on TV against Sheffield United, and we normally do well on the tele, so hopefully we come away with some points.
“It’s tight, everyone is trying to get in there.
“Until it’s mathematically impossible we will continue to try and get in there.”
