Barrett on Dale disappointment

26 March 2016

Blues defender gives his assesment of Rochdale defeat

Adam Barrett concedes that the performance at Rochdale was “very disappointing” but still maintains belief that the club has what it takes to still challenge for a play-off spot.

The Blues suffered a 4-1 away defeat at the hands of Dale, who have proven to be the form side having won six out of the last seven games.

Jack Payne gave the Blues the lead on 28 minutes before Rochdale completed a remarkable comeback scoring four goals to prove why they are the form team in the Sky Bet League One.

Barrett said; “It was very disappointing to lose the way we did. We were looking strong and then we were letting too many crosses in.”

But the Blues defender wasn't ruling out the chances of the club being contenders to make the play offs.

“We have to keep going and treat it as one game at a time and get some kind of a run going if we are to have any chance of reaching the play-offs.”

Barrett added his thoughts on the next fixture too as Southend prepare to host Sheffield United on Tuesday.

“It's a big game at home against tough opposition. It's a game we've got to win. There is an opportunity for a quick turn around after today.”
