Midfielder set to join Blues on July 1.Southend United are pleased to announce that Jermaine McGlashan will become Blues’ second summer signing on July 1 after passing a medical on Monday 27 June.
The pacey winger joins the club on a two-year contract with the option of a third year following the end of his deal at Gillingham.
The 28-year old won't have to wait long to face his former employers as Southend United host Gills in their first league game of the season and then again a few days later in the EFL Cup.
McGlashan, who has also played for Cheltenham Town and Aldershot Town in his career, is delighted to be at Southend ahead of the new campaign and is looking to fire Blues to a promotion push in 2016/17 having scored seven times for Gills.
“I spoke to a few clubs once the season ended and once I met Phil Brown he sold the club to me and the direction of where they are going.” He said.
“I’ve played against Southend a few times, I know one or two players here and there’s some quality players in the squad so my mind was pretty much made up after I met with the club.
“I went away and had a think about it and came back feeling no different so I’m very excited for the season ahead.
“People that know me know that I’ve got a lot of pace and I like to get at the full back and I really want to add goals and assists to this team.
“The way the manager wants to play suits me down to the ground and now I just can’t wait to get started!”
McGlashan becomes Blues' second summer signing after full back Jason Demetriou agreed to join the club on a two-year contract.
