Hal Robson-Kanu gives Wales a winning start to Euro campaign.
A former Blues loanee was on target at the weekend as the European Championships kicked off in FranceHal Robson-Kanu, who had two spells on loan at Roots Hall, came off the bench to score the winning goal in Wales’ 2-1 victory against Slovakia as Chris Coleman’s side topped group B.
Robson-Kanu’s arrived at Roots Hall on loan from Reading in 2008, scoring three goals in six starts.
The 27-year-old then returned Southend for a second loan spell at the start of the 2008/09 season, scoring twice.
Robson-Kanu and Wales now face a crunch match against neighbours England on Thursday 16 June as the Three Lions began their tournament with a 1-1 draw against Russia.
