Southend United will be entitled to compensation for goalkeeper Daniel Bentley, who has today signed for Championship side, Brentford.Bentley, 22, came through the Blues Academy and made his debut in October 2011 in a 4-1 victory over Torquay United in League Two.
The keeper kept 56 clean sheets between the sticks for Southend with 12 of those coming in 2015/16.
His most memorable moment for Blues came in the 2015 League Two Play-Off Final when his penalty heroics against Wycombe Wanderers booked Southend’s place in Sky Bet League One.
Bentley had been offered a new deal by Southend but has opted to join the Bees instead.
With Bentley being under 24 years of age, Blues will be entitled to compensation for the keeper.
