Community Catch-Up: Futsal Scholarships

19 January 2016

SUFC Community and Educational Trust offering Futsal Scholarships.

Are you a year 11 student? Interested in playing for Southend United? Considering studying Sport?

Southend United Community and Educational Trust are giving young footballers the chance to develop their skills on our Futsal Scholarship, and are holding an open evening on Wednesday 9th March to show you how you can learn with the Blues!

Scholars train twice weekly under the guidance of our coaching team, before representing Southend United in bi-weekly fixtures in a competitive league against other professional clubs, such as Premier League giants Chelsea FC and Southampton FC. As well as this, players will play in the Soccer AM Futsal Cup, featured on Sky Sports.

With all fixtures being played at the London Copper Box Arena, an Olympic Venue and also home venue for the England Futsal team, players will have access to some of the very best facilities available to developing athletes.

As part of the scholarship, students will work towards a BTEC in Sport at either Level 2 or Level 3. Students will have access to unique resources a professional football club can provide, including regular player visits where students get the opportunity to quiz players on the life of a professional athlete. All learning takes place at Roots Hall Stadium, ensuring each student sees first-hand the everyday dealings of professional Sport.

During your time as a student, you will receive free tickets to every Southend United home fixture in the SkyBet Football League. You will be kitted out in Southend United match kit and training wear, giving you the sense of pride that comes with wearing the badge of the club.

Upon completion, you can continue your development by moving into an Apprenticeship with Southend United, or continue your studies in Sport by progressing onto University. There are even opportunities for our Education Team to assist you in pursuing Football Scholarships at American Universities.

The open evening will be in the Community Classroom (adjacent to the Shrimpers Bar), and will be between 5.30-7.30pm.
