Cast your vote for the Devines December Player of the Month

Southend United are asking supporters to vote for their Blues' Player of the Month for December.

The club wants fans to cast their vote looking over a month where Phil Brown's men put four past Bury under the lights at Roots Hall, before a Christmas cracker of a victory on Boxing day away at local rivals, Colchester United.

Up for nomination for December are:
•    Noel Hunt
•    David Mooney
•    Jack Payne
•    Adam Thompson

Noel Hunt came back from injury in fine fashion, scoring a brace on his return against Bury; firing the Blues to within touching distance of the Play-Offs.

The Irishman then turned provider, setting up his fellow countryman, David Mooney to put Southend out of sight against Colchester.

Mooney has also bagged two goals this month, coming from the spot against Bury and the aforementioned strike at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Jack Payne displayed a string of good performances in December. The player was a standout performer in the game against Bury, playing a part in three of the four goals, one of which he scored with a delightful curling effort just inside the box.

Adam Thompson highlighted his defensive prowess in December, putting in a number of strong performances which was praised by Manager, Phil Brown. The defender played an integral part of the back-line that kept a clean sheet on Boxing Day.

Fans will have the opportunity to pick their choice for Player of the Month on Southend United's official Twitter page @SUFCRootsHall.
