Brown on Transfers

1 February 2016

Blues Boss discusses transfer activity.

Southend United Manager Phil Brown says he is the hunt for another defender, but admits any deal will most likely be after tonight’s transfer deadline.

“We’re still looking for probably one more defender.” Said Brown.

“Whether that happens today or not, is anybody’s question.

"If we do get another defender in before the end of the window, great.
"After the Colchester game, on Monday the 8th February, the loan window opens again so it's not the end of the world.
"There's lot of things going on, in regards to who to bring in, and why we're bringing them in, but whether it happens today or not is another question."

With injuries plaguing his squad, Brown admits that that will influence the situation as far as outgoings are concerned.

“As far as players going out are concerned, I’m down to my last 18.

“Having accumulated a very decent squad, in terms of numbers and quality, we’re down to the bare bones with injuries.

“John White, Ben Coker, Anthony Wordsworth, Myles Weston, Stephen McLaughlin are all not available tomorrow.”
