Defender hoping to register three priceless pointsCian Bolger says the mood is very positive in the camp ahead of Southend United’s trip to Port Vale tomorrow night.
The Blues go in to the game on the back of a rousing 3-1 victory over league leaders Burton Albion on Monday.
After getting back to winning ways following two consecutive defeats, the defender believes things are looking bright for the team.
“It’s going well.” He said.
“The last two games before Burton wasn’t too good, but in the squad we’re confident and things are looking up again.”
While Roots Hall has been somewhat of a fortress in recent weeks, Southend have lost their last two away from home.
Registering priceless points away from home comforts is something that Bolger and the team are looking to achieve tomorrow night at Vale Park.
But playing against another side challenging for those play-off places will prove a stern test warns the Irishman.
“Something that we’ve looked at is picking more points up on the road.” Bolger added.
“Port Vale will be another tough test as they’re not doing too bad themselves but we’re confident going there that we can pick up the three points and push on again.”
If Southend can get the three points tomorrow night, it will see them slide in to the top-six.
As the rest of the teams around the Blues do not kick off until a day later, Bolger sees this game as a chance to send a clear message to other contenders that this team means business.
“It’s a great to incentive to be in the play-offs before the other teams kick off on Saturday.
“If we’re in there it puts pressure back on the other sides to go and pick up wins as well, and that’s what we’re hoping to do.”
