Boss reacts to Oxford defeat...
Phil Brown admitted Blues were not at their best in the penalty shoot-out defeat to Oxford United last night.
Anthony Wordsworth netted a late equaliser following Chris Maguire's 30 yard free kick which gave the visitors the lead.
They went on to win the shoot-out 4-3, and Brown said Blues will have to be better come Saturday against Coventry.
"If you look at the levels of performance in the last six, seven or eight games we were nowhere near that tonight," he said.
"That could have been the break, but too many of our better players didn’t perform tonight.
"It was close but it was almost a dress rehearsal for Saturday. My point being, if we perform like that on Saturday, we’ve got to be careful.
"We need to be at our best if we are going to win games of football.
"I didn’t take this one lightly by any stretch of the imagination.
"Oxford are a decent side and both teams played some decent football. We didn’t get beat in the 90 minutes, but tonight was a sign that we can’t take our foot off the gas.
"If we are at our best we’ll have a chance of beating the top sides in League One."
