Southend United are asking supporters to vote for their DeVines Player of the Month for November.
Blues started off the month with two cup ties, the first against Millwall in the Emirates FA Cup followed by Stevenage in the Checkatrade Trophy; both of which ended in defeats.
The four remaining fixtures saw Blues win two and draw two to continue their formidable league form. A 4-1 road win at Bury was backed up a week later with a 3-0 home win against Bradford before successive points against Swindon and Walsall.
You can choose from the following four candidates as your standout player…
• Will Atkinson
• Nile Ranger
• Michael Timlin
• Mark Oxley
Will Atkinson has been an integral part of the system deployed of late, performing a “thankless task” on the right hand side. But popping up with three goals has done his claim the world of good, picking up two man of the match displays against Bradford and Swindon. A brace against his former side and another goal against the Robins saw him beat his goal tally for last season (two) in a matter of days.
Nile Ranger bagged his first goals for the Blues in the month of November, both of which came in the 4-1 rout away at Bury. Almost two years on from scoring his last professional goal, Ranger returned to what he does best at Gigg Lane and was a nuisance for defenders to play against.
Michael Timlin made a brilliant return from injury last month, providing three assists in the 4-1 win at Bury. Timlin’s remaining game time came at left back in the absence of Ben Coker, but he has slotted in really well and provided more than capable cover.
Mark Oxley has again been brilliant between the sticks, keeping two clean sheets. Crucially in games against Bradford, Swindon and Walsall, he has pulled off some important saves which have helped Blues to points.
