Nile Ranger has been accused of fraud and money laundering.
The Offence is purported to have taken place nearly two years ago, in early 2015. Nile, who initially joined Southend United on trial in July of this year, appeared at Highbury Magistrates Court this morning, with his legal representatives, to plead not guilty to the charge.
We understand the sum of money involved is £2,090.
Whilst we will monitor the position; at present the Club can see no reason why this matter should affect Nile Ranger’s playing performance and will therefore be available for selection this coming weekend for the match against Oldham Athletic.
As further information becomes available the Club will comment as appropriate and in the meantime the Club will continue to fully support Nile Ranger as it does all of its players.
