BROWN | "I'm really enjoying watching my team play"

30 December 2016

Boss looks ahead to Charlton game...

Blues boss Phil Brown has praised his squad for how they have turned things around to go 12 games unbeaten in Sky Bet League One.

Since the 3-0 defeat to Rochdale on 8th October, Blues have shot up the league table into the Play-Offs, conceding five times and scoring 22.

And Brown enthused at the way they have done it as well.

“Having given the division a ten or twelve game head start, to be where we are is an achievement in itself," he said.

“I’ve got to take my hat off to the players for their application and the way they’re playing the kind of football I’m watching that is a joy for me to watch, never mind the supporters.

“It’s probably one of the rare occasions in my career as a manager that I’m actually really enjoying watching my team play.

“It’s down to the ability of the players on show, their togetherness, team spirit and quality in the final third is something to behold.

“But no two games are the same. Charlton’s going to be a difficult challenge for us.

“At the start of the season they would have been one the teams you would expect to be in the top six, challenging for automatic promotion.

“They’ve had a sticky time with the change of management and there’s been lots of things going on at Charlton.

“At the end of the day we’re playing against Karl Robinson’s team and it was only six or seven weeks ago we were doing the same up at MK Dons.

“What that first win [on Boxing Day] will do for them I’ve no idea. It will probably galvanise them as a club.

“Buoyed by that, we’ve got to make sure that we’re at our best defensively and bring the kind of football that I’m watching to the party.”

Tickets for the game can be bought online, in person at the Roots Hall Ticket Office or by calling the Ticket Box Office on 08444 770077.
