Southend Echo:

NILE Ranger bounced back from a testing week to help fire Southend United to a 2-0 win at Oldham Athletic this afternoon.

The Shrimpers striker was in court on Wednesday after being charged with fraud.

But Blues boss Phil Brown opted to keep the forward in the starting line-up and saw his faith rewarded when Ranger brilliantly fired the visitors in front.

Nile Ranger put aside his off-field troubles to help Southend United to victory at Oldham Athletic.

Ranger, who appeared in court earlier in the week, remained in the Southend starting line-up and gave his team the lead before Jermaine McGlashan sealed the win in the second half.

Oldham Athletic:

Nile Ranger opened the scoring for the Shrimpers in the first half whilst substitute Jermaine McGlashen added the second 15 minutes from time to win the game.

Manager Stephen Robinson elected to stick with the same side which started Tuesday night’s game against Walsall.
