Defender joins Phil Brown's side on one-year contract.Southend United are delighted to announce the signing of Anton Ferdinand on a one-year contract.
The Defender, 31, joins the Blues having spent the last two seasons at Sky Bet Championship side Reading and will wear the number 35 shirt.
The former England Under-21 International began his career at West Ham United, making 163 appearances for the Hammers before joining Sunderland for £8million in 2008.
Spells at Queens Park Rangers and in Turkey followed before signing for the Royals in August 2014.
Ferdinand, who will be in contention for Tuesday night's Checkatrade Trophy game v Brighton & Hove Albion, is thrilled to be joining Phil Brown's side and can't wait to get going.
