Southend stopper previews the trip to Bramall Lane.Blues goalkeeper, Mark Oxley is hoping Southend can kick start their season at Sheffield United on Tuesday night.
Phil Brown’s side travel to Bramall Lane looking to bounce back from two defeats in their opening two fixtures in Sky Bet League One.
After coming away empty handed from those games, Oxley, ahead of the Sheffield United game, feels the team has to be more clinical and capitalise on the periods of pressure they have had in games.
“We’ll be looking to put the last few games behind us and go there (Sheffield United) and try and get a result.” He said.
“It’s not as if we’ve been getting hammered by teams, we felt we’ve been on top especially in the first halves of both the Gillingham games.
“On Saturday (vs Port Vale) we felt like we deserved something from the first half but unfortunately we didn’t get it and that kind of sets the tone for the rest of the game.
“If you don’t take your chances you are just inviting pressure from the other team and we need to learn quickly and try and put that right.”
“I’m from Sheffield and a lot of my family are from there so there will be a few people coming to watch so hopefully they can bring a bit of luck and we can get the result we feel some of our performances have deserved and get something out of the game.”
