Defender previews Oldham AthleticBlues defender Adam Thompson is eyeing tomorrow’s fixture with Oldham Athletic as the perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways.
The 23-year-old was part of the Blues back-line that defended valiantly at Walsall on Saturday.
With much to build on from that game despite the late disappointment, Thompson is hoping the Blues can put it right at Roots Hall on Tuesday under the lights.
“I thought we played quite well against Walsall.
“We contained their attack for most of the game, and I think they are probably the best side we’ve faced both home and away this season.
“I thought we deserved a point for how hard we worked but it wasn’t to be, but it’s good to have a Tuesday game after a defeat as it’s a quick way to bounce back.”
Saturday’s defeat was a bitter pill to swallow, but while there is still points up for grabs, Thompson says the players will continue fighting, if nothing else to reward the fans for their loyal support this season.
“I still think we can make the play-offs, whether that’s realistic or not I’m not sure.
“We owe it to our fans though, especially with the home games against Oldham and Bradford coming up to put on some great performances.
“We just want to try and finish the season strongly and give them something to shout out and give something back to them as they’ve been brilliant all season.”
