Striker back in training following ankle injuryDavid Mooney is back in full training and ready to play his part in securing a strong finish to the season for the Blues.
The striker, who has been out of action since the beginning of March with an ankle injury, will take part in training with the rest of the squad today.
And the 31-year-old is hoping he and the team can finish the season with flourish, starting this Saturday at Wigan Athletic.
“It’s been progressing well; I’m looking to get back in today which will be my first day back training with all the lads so we’ll see where we go from there.
“It’s coming towards the end of the season and we know that we need to try and finish on a high as we don’t want to go into next season on the back of so many defeats.
“So from that point of view it’s important for us to tray and bounce back on Saturday with a win.”
Blues travel to the DW Stadium on Saturday to face a Latics side chasing for automatic promotion.
Three points on Saturday could see Gary Caldwell’s side on the cusp of promotion back to the Sky Bet Championship if results go their way.
But Mooney says the Blues and are going into the game fully intending on spoiling the party.
“They are a really good team.
“I’ve seen them a few times on TV as well and they seem to have a good style of play, but I don’t think they’ve been in a rich vein of form these past two games either.
“So it will probably be a good time to get and play them, but they are probably thinking the same about us.
“If they win they can get closer to promotion on Saturday so we’ll be looking to go up there and spoil the party.”
