Blues midfielder raring to go after recovering from knee injury
Midfielder, Ryan Leonard is delighted to be back out on the pitch after recovering from a medial knee ligament injury.
The 23-year old made his first appearance in just under two months as a substitute in the victory over Sheffield United last week.
Leonard followed up that return with 20 minutes against Blackpool last time out and completed 90 minutes for the Under-21’s this afternoon in the 3-1 defeat to Luton Town.
Speaking after the game, the Blues middle man was thrilled to get back out on the pitch ahead of schedule.
“I’m very happy to get back.” Leonard said.
“It’s obviously been a long couple of months, and it’s just nice to get a bit of game time, and it feels great to get back.
“The initial diagnosis was three months, so to get back with a month to spare when it looked at one stage as if I would be out for the rest of the season is a big thing and I’m very pleased.”
With much still to play for between now and the end of the season, Leonard is hoping to play his part to bring about a successful end to the campaign.
“I want to try and get as much game time as possible now and I think anything I can get now is a bonus as I wasn’t expected to play.
“So I’ll be looking to see if I can start to fight for my place back in the team which I know is going to be tough.
“But I just want to get as much game time as possible and see where it takes us as a club.”
