Leonard expecting tough task at Banks's Stadium.Blues Midfielder Ryan Leonard is expecting a tough task this weekend as Southend United travel to promotion chasing Walsall.
The Blues come up against the Saddlers this weekend who still have eyes for the automatic promotion places, and will be looking to close the gap.
But Leonard says Blues, who have defeated some of the division’s high flyers already this season, will be looking to get all three points from this one.
“I think Walsall will be a similar challenge to Fleetwood.” He said.
“They’ll be a passing team as a lot of teams are now, but Walsall really try to play the ball about a lot.
“So I think we need to get in their faces as much as possible and try to not let that happen.
“It’s going to be a hard game, they had a good win the other night against Gillingham so it’s going to be a really tough one.
“We’re just going to go up there and battle for everything and see if we can get a win from the game.”
Southend go into this game looking to get back to winning ways and try to mount a late challenge for a top-six place.
The race for the play-offs is not in Blues’ hands, but Leonard says the players are focused on finishing with a flourish and just see where that takes them come May.
“For us we just want to finish as high as possible.
“Whatever that position is, whether it’s sixth or seventh we just want to finish as high as we can.
“If we can win every game and make a late dash for the play-offs then great, but if we can’t then we need to play for a bit of pride and finish as high up the table as we can.”
