Here's a look back at the last time we faced the Bantams at HQ.We go back to December 15, 2012 for Bradford’s last visit to south Essex and on that day the Bantams would’ve left feeling aggrieved not to have taken all three points.
Goals from Ryan Cresswell and Gavin Tomlin in the last ten minutes handed Southend a point in a stunning late fightback on home soil.
Bradford arrived buoyed from their midweek heroics over Arsenal in the Capital One Cup and took the lead via Nahki Wells’ close range finish.
They doubled their advantage in the 64th minute with a fortuitous own goal from Luke Prosser who sliced a cross from Will Atkinson, now a Shrimper, past Paul Smith.
But Blues weren’t going to give up an 11-game unbeaten run easily, and got themselves back in it when Kevan Hurst crossed for Cresswell who beat Matt Duke in the Bradford goal.
Tomlin then stepped up in the dying seconds with a composed finish for his ninth goal in as many games to extend the stretch of games to 12 without defeat.
The point for the two promotion chasing sides wasn’t much help for either and kept Southend in sixth and Bradford moving down a place to fifth.
