Exiles set to welcome Blues for final home game

27 April 2016

We want Blues fans from far & wide against Bradford City

Southend United's fixture against Bradford City on Saturday 30th April at Roots Hall is our designated 'Exiles Day'.

Fans will descend on Roots Hall for the final time this season against the promotion chasing Bantams. On Saturday, we also welcome the SUFC Exiles who have travelled from far and wide to back the boys.

The SUFC Exiles represent the views and needs of all Southend United fans from outside the SS postcode, with the additional challenges that presents. Some Exiles never or very rarely attend games, whilst others travel regularly to Roots Hall. Via Facebook, Twitter and an email group for paid up members, they communicate with like-minded Exiles. You may have read about the experiences of two Exiles based in Brisbane and Barcelona in recent matchday programmes.

Event Organiser John Walton said, "We have a number of activities planned before the game. Exiles should to register their attendance with us using a dedicated email address - We invite fans based in Southend or South East Essex, come along to acknowledge their dedication. In return, we invite you to participate in our balloon release as the teams walk out.

Courtesy of Outstanding Branding, the Exiles have 1000 balloons to distribute and release as the teams walk onto the Roots Hall turf to add to end of term atmosphere. By sharing the balloons with their near neighbours, Exiles can highlight themselves to their fellow supporters.

Exiles will be seated all over the ground and their release will symbolise the way in which we are scattered across the country and the world.
