BROWN | Blues Boss previews Oldham

Southend Manager hoping to get back to winning ways at HQ.

Southend United Manager, Phil Brown is hoping for a big atmosphere under the lights as the Blues prepare to take on Oldham Athletic at Roots Hall.

Brown’s side go into the game looking to bounce back from the desperate disappointment of losing late on against Walsall.

The Boss is hoping his players can rally from the setback and register a double over the Latics, who are much improved under the management of John Sheridan.

“A Tuesday night under the lights at Roots Hall, I’m hoping it will be a decent atmosphere for the game.” Brown said.

“Since John Sheridan has gone in at Oldham he’s certainly turned their fortunes around.

“We beat them 5-2 at their place at a time when David Dunn was in charge and they looked a bit like a club in disarray, but John had steadied the ship and pointed them in the right direction.

“They are a lot more dogged and determined than what they were and it will be a tough game.

“They’ve got one or two players where we’ll need to cater for, but if we bring our ‘A game’ to the table both defensively and with the ball it should be a game where we can get back to winning ways.”
