Blues striker eyes play-off spotsTyrone Barnett is looking to finish the season with a flourish and hopefully squeeze into the play-offs spots with six games remaining in the league season.
The striker, on loan from Shrewsbury Town is hoping that the team that a win on Saturday against Fleetwood Town can reignite a play-off charge after a run of inconsistent results.
“We want to put a good run together to finish the season strong and hopefully nick a play-off place, so the inconsistency has been frustrating at times.
“The lads have been playing well and have been working hard so hopefully with a bit of luck we can put a run of wins together.
“We know we can put the wins together; we know we’ve been playing really well in certain games and I think the confidence is there in the group, we just need a bit of luck now.
The 30-year old has taken to life in a Southend shirt like a duck to water, scoring five goals so far since joining in January.
Barnett says he is loving life at Roots Hall, and is hoping to cap the season off with the challenge of the play-offs in May.
“I’ve enjoyed every minute down here. Hopefully there’s many more memories to make.
“The gaffer is great, the players are excellent so I’m really enjoying it.
“From a team point of view I’d love to get in the play-offs. I’ve never played in the play-offs before so that’s something I’d like to do.”
