Match Preview: Millwall vs. Southend United

18 September 2015

A look ahead to the League 1 clash at the Den on Saturday afternoon.

Blues hit the road on Saturday for the trip to the Lions Den – quite literally – to face Southend old boy Neil Harris’ Millwall in Sky Bet League 1.

Team News...
Blues boss Phil Brown revealed this week that he faces concerns over a number of players, including Noel Hunt, David Mooney, Stephen McLaughlin, Ben Coker, Kevan Hurst and Paul Smith. For Millwall, following two wins in two, many would expect Harris to stick with the same team that defeated Port Vale midweek, and faces selection dilemmas for the game with the likes of Joe Martin, Sid Nelson and Shane Ferguson hoping to get game time on Saturday.

The Tickets…
Tickets for the came come off sale today at 3pm from the Blues Box Office, but tickets for the match can be purchased on the day from Millwall.

What they said…
Phil Brown: “It’s about being stubborn and you have to understand what it’s like to play for and to play against Millwall.

“We have experienced players in the form of Michael Timlin, Adam Barrett and Noel Hunt who have all played and won in hostile environments and we’ll have to pass that sort of experience around.”

Neil Harris: “But that makes no difference come Saturday afternoon - three points is all I'm interested in.

"Last time out at The Den we beat Peterborough in a really good game and we played well. (Since then) we've had two terrific away performances so we are certainly looking to build on that.”

The Away Fans…
Blues supporters will be housed in the North Stand, which is behind one of the goals. This stand can accommodate around 4,000 spectators.

On the Rails…
The nearest train station to Millwall is South Bermondsey, which is a short walk to the stadium.

The Officials...
Referee: Mark Haywood
Assistant Referees: Matt Foley and Robert Massey-Ellis
Fourth Official: Andrew Laver

One To Watch…
Striker Aiden O’Brien bagged an impressive hat-trick in a recent victory at Crewe Alexandra for the Lions. It was the first three goals in a match of the forward’s career, and Harris will be hoping that the former Crawley Town loanee continues his good form.
