John White: Let's continue our momentum against Shrewsbury Town

11 September 2015

The skipper wants Blues to make it five unbeaten on Saturday.

Southend United captain John White wants Blues to continue the 'momentum' ahead of Saturday's game against Shrewsbury Town at Roots Hall.

Blues are currently on a four-game unbeaten run and the skipper is pleased with the start the side has made since their return to League 1.

“Things are looking good and the mood in the camp is buoyant. We feel as if we've played some good football against all opponents except Walsall,” he said.

“We haven't picked up as many points as we should have done but we showed what we're about against Peterborough and showed exactly what we're about.

“We felt it was only a matter of time before we got that first win. We always had the belief and now it's a time to continue doing what we do well: pressing high and winning the ball back, attacking teams.

“We've had a fairly tough start but it's a good time for us. We're playing good football and creating chances. We want a little run to get started now.”

And having played Shrewsbury twice last season, White is sure the clash at Roots Hall will be another tricky encounter.

“There's competition for places and it's a good thing. Shrewsbury are a tough team to play against and they'll come here and cause us some problems.

“We're in good spirits and it's a case of continuing the momentum from not just last Saturday but from the last few weeks.”
