McLaughlin, Payne, Hurst and Thompson all play for the Blues against the Dons.
An entertaining goal-fest finally ended today with the Southend United U21s team earning a 5-3 victory at AFC Wimbledon's training complex this afternoon.
The likes of Stephen McLaughlin, Jack Payne, Kevan Hurst and Adam Thompson all played against the Dons.
Despite not being the best first half, Josh Bexon pulled off a good penalty save to deny Tom Beere following a foul in the area.
McLaughlin – playing for the second under-21s game in succession following his virus – had a goal ruled out for offside in the opening half as the sides went in at the break all square at 0-0.
But then the action really began with an amazing eight goals in the second 45.
McLaughlin eventually did get on the scoresheet from close range before winger Nico Cotton made it 2-0 soon after.
Jason Williams scored a brace to make it 4-0 to Blues before Wimbledon battled back with three goals.
However, boss Dave Robertson changed the system slightly and Blues grabbed a fifth goal thanks to an own goal.
It was a frantic final ten minutes, but Blues held on to get back to winning ways under Robertson's stewardship.
