U21s: Blues U21s draw at Luton Town

28 October 2015

Williams scores as Smith, Thompson and Payne gain minutes under their belts.

Southend United held a strong Luton Town side to a draw in our development squad game at Kenilworth Road.

First team players Ted Smith, Adam Thompson and Jack Payne gained valuable minutes under their belt in the match.

The Blues took the lead in the 13th minute when Jason Williams headed into the back of the net from close range.

Williams went close to netting his and Blues’ second goal soon after, but hit straight at the goalkeeper.

After the break, Luton levelled, scoring from a free kick past Smith from the edge of the box in emphatic fashion.

Luton included Southend-born Paul Benson in their XI for the game, as was former Blue Ryan Hall.

Blues: T. Smith, Jordan Williams, Thompson, Kyprianou, Adeyeye, Bridge, Norman, Gard (Walker 85), Cotton, Payne, Jason Williams
