Adam Thompson and Stephen McLaughlin both play in defeat against the Hatters' U21s.
Southend United's under-21s suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at home to Luton Town yesterday at Boots & Laces in their Final Third Cup game against the Hatters.
Despite Blues suffering defeat, thanks to Alex Atkinson's first half goal for the Bedfordshire side, positives can be taken by the fact that Adam Thompson returned from his long lay-off following a shoulder injury.
As well as this, Stephen McLaughlin also played for the Blues, after missing the last few first team games due to a virus.
Dave Robertson said after the game: “It was a good workout for the team against a decent Luton Town side.
“Whilst we're disappointed to lose any game of football, the main positive was obviously Adam Thompson making his return to action and playing the full 90 minutes as he steps up his road to full recovery.”
The U21s are next in action on Monday 13th October at AFC Wimbledon, kick off 1pm.
