Blues legend to assist with the development of the youth and under-21s teams.
Southend United are pleased to announce the return of former player Kevin Maher, who re-joins to assist with the youth and under-21s departments.
The 38-year-old totalled more than 400 appearances for the Blues in ten years here at Roots Hall and he's now back as Assistant Academy Professional Development Stage Coach.
And Kevin's delighted to be back with the Blues in a full time capacity.
“I've been helping out on and off here, working with Ricky Duncan and Dave Huzzey,” the former midfielder says.
“There's still plenty of familiar faces around and it's almost as if I've never been away to be honest!
“The aim is to continue developing and bringing through players, like Rick and his staff have done in the past and I aim to certainly play a part in that.
"I'd like to thank the manager and the chairman for their help in making my move back here happen. I love the club and it's fantastic to be a part of it again!"
You can read a full interview with Kevin in the matchday programme against Barnsley on Saturday, whilst another interview will be on Blues Player HD later today.
