Match Preview: Southend United vs. Port Vale

10 October 2015

A look ahead to the game against Port Vale in Sky Bet League 1.

Team News...
Adam Barrett is likely to miss out on the clash against Port Vale, but John White could return after coming through the midweek JPT win over Crawley Town unscathed.

Stephen McLaughlin and Adam Thompson both played the full 90 minutes in an under-21 game against Luton Town on Tuesday but the match against Vale could come too early for the pair.

Noel Hunt is a doubt for the game at Roots Hall, as is winger Kevan Hurst.

The Tickets...

What they said...

Brian Horton: “When I was there as a player, the group we had at the time reminds me of the group we have here.

“They were really good, enjoyable days.

“I have seen them a couple of times, I saw them in pre-season against Carlisle United and they’ve had a similar start to us. They’ll come to try and make it hard for us.

“I know Dean Glover, who’s the chief scout now and I also gave Chris Birchall his debut as well. He’s gone on to play in America with David Beckham, living the high life but he’s back at Vale now. He’s a good lad!

Rob Page: “For whatever reason we weren’t at the races on Tuesday. Like I said that’s no disrespect to Blackpool.

“They came and made eight changes, it was more or less the reserve team but I think it was our doing, not theirs.

“The way we started we were in total control of the game and sometimes that can have a reverse effect. You take the foot of the gas and get caught and we did.”
