Striker admits two goals against Crewe has given him a confidence boost heading into clash with Burton Albion.
Southend United striker Joe Pigott says the confidence is flowing in the squad at the moment as the Blues aim to make it four consecutive wins on Saturday at Burton Albion.
Phil Brown’s side head to the Pirelli Stadium in red hot form having earned the three points against Millwall, Scunthorpe United and at Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday.
The game in midweek saw Pigott bag a brace, and the on loan forward admits his confidence has been boosted with the two-goal haul.
“The whole team go into the game full of confidence and are looking forward to it,” Pigott said on Thursday ahead of our game against the Brewers.
“I wouldn’t say I was struggling but I was lacking a bit of confidence so scoring the two goals is a boost for me, personally.”
“The second one everyone says it was offside but it definitely wasn’t. I knew the run I made and it was a simple finish in the end.
“I should have probably had a hat-trick when I missed that chance in the first half that his the bar.
And Pigott doesn’t have the best of memories from his last trip to the Pirelli Stadium, which ended in disappointment for the Blues back in March this year.
“It was topsy-turvy at their place last season,” the 21-year-old reflects.
“It was a bitter pill to swallow losing to a late goal after going 1-0 up and being against ten men for half the game.”
In their ranks Burton have a familiar face in the form of Jerome Binnom-Williams, who spent almost a season on loan at Roots Hall last season, and Joe’s looking forward to meeting up with the defender.
“I saw him score a pretty good goal the other week and appears to have started well at Burton.
“It’s about us though and we’re settling into the division now. I think we’ve played against teams who have been up there this season like Walsall, for example.
“We believe we can win any game at the moment.”
