Woody aiming to get a start this Saturday following two assists in his last two games.
Southend United midfielder Anthony Wordsworth admits ‘there’s a buzz around the place’ as Blues aim to make it three consecutive wins at Roots Hall on Saturday.
Barnsley make the trip to Essex sitting in mid-table, but Blues are on the cusp of the play-offs following the latest win against Port Vale last week.
Wordsworth has two assists from his last two outings, and set up the winner on Saturday for Joe Pigott, and he’s aiming to get a starting place in the team for the game against the Tykes.
“Four wins out of five means there is a real buzz around the place at the moment and everyone’s on a high.
“There was a question mark whether we could play in this division but a lot of the players here have played at this level and higher.
“We’ve been grinding out the results recently and now we go into every game believing we can score goals, whoever we play.
“With Gary [Deegan] out through suspension this weekend then I have a chance to earn the shirt.”
And a couple of months into his time as a Blue, Wordsworth says he’s loving it at Roots Hall, and is pleased with the improving performances.
“I’ve really enjoyed it and now it’s about getting game time and keeping the shirt.
“The performances have been better at home and we want to keep improving as well. I don’t think last week was really a 1-0 game to be honest, so hopefully we can continue to create chances.”
