Adam Barrett: I'm hoping for some more JPT memories with the Blues

10 November 2015

Defender wants Blues' JPT run to continue after Wednesday evening against the Gas.

Southend United defender Adam Barrett cannot wait to be back in action for the Blues – if selected on Wednesday night!

Barrett was on the bench for the trip to Scunthorpe United on Saturday following a few weeks out with an injury picked up at Millwall in September.

And he may well make his comeback against a former club in the form of Bristol Rovers in the JPT at Roots Hall on Wednesday.

“Every time you have a bad result you always have the next game to look forward to and hopefully we can get back to winning ways against Bristol Rovers,” the 35-year-old said.

“You want to win every game. Winning breeds confidence and I was fortune to get to the Final here before at Cardiff and the club got to Wembley a couple of years ago.

“It’s a winnable game for us and hopefully we can pick up some silverware.

“We have a tough game on Wednesday and we need to make sure we stay focussed.”

Barrett enjoyed two years as a Bristol Rovers programme prior to first joining Southend in 2004.

And he admitted he was thrilled to see the Gas return to League 2 last season.

“I spent two years as captain at Bristol and thoroughly enjoyed it.

“It’s a good football club with good people and I am pleased to see them back in the Football League following their promotion last season.”
