Tims hails team mentality following momentous triumph at Wembley.
Southend United midfielder Michael Timlin hailed Blues’ promotion to Sky Bet League One, claiming it’s the ‘best achievement of his career’.
The midfielder, who scored one of the goals to put Blues into the Final at Wembley Stadium, produced another one of his committed displays and praised the mentality of his team-mates following the victory over Wycombe Wanderers.
“It was a rollercoaster for everyone,” the 30-year-old reflected.
“It’s by far the best achievement in my career. I’ve been here for so long I have an association with the fans.
“I’m so delighted to have achieved that goal. I’m delighted for the chairman, manager, players, staff and fans as we’ve all put a lot of effort into it.
“We’ve got strong mentalities in the group because sometimes it does come down to nerves and the character showed again.
“We knew we’d get that opportunity. I’m someone who keeps pushing and keeps going. We weren’t at our best but we’re back in League One which is a big achievement.
And looking back on his time with Blues, Timlin praised boss Phil Brown for taking Southend United onto the next level.
“When Paul Sturrock took me to Southend I knew it was a fantastic club. He brought a belief to the squad which wasn’t there before. Phil Brown has come in and taken us to the next step. The chairman’s backed him and we’ve all done it together.”
