Midfielder revels in Wembley triumph with the Blues and is delighted with overall season.
Midfielder Jack Payne joked that the Blues left it late in a bid to make the game more 'exciting' at Wembley!
The midfielder came on as a substitute in extra time and bagged one of the crucial seven penalties as Southend booked their spot in the third tier of English football again with the victory.
“It was never a problem,” the youngster said with a laugh.
“It was our day and we left it so late to make it more exciting for everyone! What a place to do it as well. For me this is the best thing that has happened to me and easily tops anything I've done so far in my career.
“It's been a really good season for both the Club and myself personally. It's been a breakthrough campaign and it's finished with the perfect ending.
“We will have a few weeks off which means party, party, party, and then we'll go again, looking ahead to League One!”
