Boss wants Blues to build momentum ahead of the game at Burton Albion.
Southend United manager Phil Brown says Blues will head into the game against Burton Albion in confident mood.
Blues picked up an excellent 3-1 win at Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday and Brown wants his side to continue their winning run against the Brewers on Wednesday evening.
“It was a vital result against Dagenham and we went into the game in a positive mood,” the boss said.
“We wanted the front four to create a bit more for us and the front two are the two in form strikers in the division.
“We had Burton watched on Saturday, and although the scoreline looked convincing, the performance wasn't, and Jimmy thought that as well.
“There are weaknesses in there and that's something we'll work at on the training ground. At the end of last season I was impressed with them.
“They lost Gary Rowett to Birmingham and Jimmy has taken to his role like a fish to water. They had a blip a while back but they've got back on track.
“We take confidence into the game and it will be a great advert for League Two. We need to stake a claim for those three points.”
And Brown could be sweating on the fitness of a couple of key players for the match at the Pirelli Stadium, but feels the duo should be okay for the game.
“Ben Coker came out of the game against Dagenham with a muscle problem, Barry Corr took a kick to his foot as well. They will train ahead of the game but may have to be wrapped up in cotton wool.
“We are travelling down on Wednesday and staying overnight, to prepare for the game on Saturday.”
