Boss thrilled to add more League 1 experience to his squad.
Southend United boss Phil Brown is raring to go in League 1 for the 2015-16 season.
The manager penned a three-year-contract with the Club last month to extend his stay with the Blues and is now looking forward to kicking on in the third tier.
“The summer's gone really well and I've been all over the place!” Phil reflected.
“It's always nicer going into a break with promotion under your belt and now I'm back and ready for our League 1 challenge!”
Southend made their first new signings of the campaign this week, and Brown was delighted to bring in both David Mooney (Thursday) and Anthony Wordsworth (Friday).
Both arrived on free transfers and the duo have plenty of League 1 experience, too.
“David's somebody who I have looked at many times,” Brown admitted.
“His movement and work rate is first class. He will be synonymous to how we're going to play. He has legs and energy, and with the clever players we'll bring in, he'll be key.
“He's a goalscorer, there's no doubt about it. With the wide players we have, he'll thrive. He knows the league and has experience of League 1.”
And Brown also believes the signing of Wordsworth will be a statement of intent from Blues, with the former Ipswich Town man joining us on a two-year contract.
“Anthony had a scare with a back injury not so long ago but he's well over that and obviously passed the medical.
“He's a fantastic player and he'll bring a lot of quality, with has a lovely left foot. He's the envy of a lot of teams and he - like David - recognised our ambitions, not just from me, but us as a Club. He's a very talented player and is at a fantastic age. He's another that has that League 1 knowledge.”
Check back on the official website tomorrow for the second part of the manager interview, as he discusses more new signings and pre-season training.
