Dan discusses the final two days of the Blues' trip to Spain.
Coming to the end of the pre-season trip to Spain, Dan Bentley posts his exclusive thoughts from inside the camp on how the final two days went for the Blues squad!
This was the last full day, and to begin with we were on the training pitch from 9am. After a warm up to get us all going we went into an 11 vs. 11 game scenario - there was timing conditions so it built us up for the pre-season games we have coming up, the teams rotated and the scored finished 1-0.
Myles Weston scored an absolute worldy into the top corner and Terry Mason claimed that Ted Smith "would have had more chance touching the sun!" The games were very tough, especially in the 30 degree plus heat.
That afternoon we had our second gym session, and again it was lower body and power themed with slight variations to what we did in Tuesday. But another gym session in the bank.
With two new signings, means there are two initiation songs, and I have to say the standard was excellent!
David Mooney sang some Irish song to the delight of the rest of the Irish lads in the team, but half of the boys didn't have a clue what it was!
Anthony Wordsworth sang Ronan Keating - When You Say Nothing At All, which was first class, and probably up with the best that most of the team has ever seen! Both lads have integrated with the squad really well.
The last day was travelling home, so to sign off my diary I would say we have been very lucky with the facilities, and a big thank you to the staff in the hotel who made our stay very comfortable and easy. The work we got done was excellent, the fitness levels of the squad are ahead of where was expected and the togetherness and team spirit we have here is second to none. It was a great trip all round!
I hope you enjoyed reading my updates, and here's to another successful season!
See you at the pre-season friendlies!
