Striker signs for Blues on loan until the end of the season from Wolves

Southend United are delighted to announce the signing of striker Jake Cassidy on loan from Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Jake has agreed to stay at Roots Hall until the end of the season, with the Welsh forward putting pen to paper on a deal earlier today.

The 21-year-old spent the first part of this season on loan at Sky Bet League One outfit Notts County, where he scored four times in 16 games.

Prior to arriving at Meadow Lane, Cassidy had a couple of loan stints with Tranmere Rovers, which included a record of 11 goals from 26 games in 2012.

Jake has played over 20 times for his parent club since turning professional in 2011 and he's played eight times for Wales under-21s.

Blues boss Phil Brown said: “I’m really pleased to have brought Jake to the football Club. He’s scored goals at a higher level and despite his young age, has experience of playing games. It’s a fantastic signing for us.”
