21-year-old striker arrives on an initial month-long loan deal from the Championship side.
Southend United are pleased to announce the signing of striker Joe Pigott on an initial one-month loan from Championship side Charlton Athletic.
The 21-year-old frontman has played against Blues already this season, during a loan stint with fellow Sky Bet League Two outfit Newport County, where he scored three times in six starts during his spell at Rodney Parade.
Pigott came through the Charlton youth system, turning professional at the Valley in 2012, and he has played 12 times for the Addicks, including two games for the club this season.
The Maidstone-born forward has also spent time on loan at Bromley, and in League One last season with Gillingham.
The deal for Pigott can be extended, but the initial deal will expire on Tuesday 10th February.
And boss Phil Brown was delighted to get his man through the door after admitting he was impressed with Joe during a previous game.
“We’re looking for goals and Joe’s hold up play and movement is good,” Phil said.
“He caught our eye in the behind closed doors game against Charlton the other week. He was impressed with the way we played as well.
“He’s one of the best finishers at Charlton and I’m hoping he can bring goals to the team. I don’t want to put pressure on him.”
