News: Blues trio get the aprons out for 'Go Faster Food'

21 February 2015

Phil Brown, Dave Penney and Mads Ibenfeldt join in, in making scrumptious food

Southend United trio Phil Brown, Dave Penney and Mads Ibenfeldt all got stuck in at the Waitrose store in Southend today, making food with 'Go Faster Food' author Kate Percy.

The boss prepared lamb meatballs, which had carrot, pine nuts, onion, coriander, garlic, spices and an egg, which was accompanied by Dave's homemade tomato and Tabasco ketchup.

Mads prepared healthy sweetcorn fritters, whilst for afters, the Dane produced some chocolate and courgette cup cakes.

Phil said: “It was a case of really listening to what Kate was saying. Kate is a marathon runner and you have to add nutrition to the diet at whatever age.

“For me, in competing a marathon for the first time in my life at 55, it was about re-training and re-programming your brain.

“Where kids are concerned, it is a valuable lesson. They're constantly under pressure with exams and exercise.

“I really enjoyed meeting Kate and her team and it was very interesting in seeing what she was producing.”

'Go Faster Food' gives detailed recipes and information on how to eat healthy and improve your nutrition, whilst eating and drinking tasty treats.
