The skipper wants his teammates to continue their unbeaten run on Saturday.
Southend United skipper John White has urged his teammates to ‘push on’ as Blues head into the ‘business end’ of the season.
Captain White has been part of a team which has gone an impressive 16 games unbeaten and believes the squad have what it takes to continue in that rich vein of form.
“We’ve always had the belief that we could go on a run and start winning games. We knew it would happen and we need to keep pushing on now,” White said.
“Hopefully that’s the blip out of the way. We knew we had a solid foundation and weren’t conceding too many goals, which meant we weren’t losing too many matches either.
“I think we’re going from strength to strength. It’s been a group effort and with the new faces coming in, it’s been like a new start. They’re capable of scoring and that gives us confidence as a team.”
But the 28-year-old believes Blues will have to raise their game, as the expectation levels increase with every game.
“With the run we’ve been on, the expectation levels do go up. We know it will be another tough game, but we’ll all be going out to try and win the game. The belief in the squad is unbelievable and with the size of the squad, we can deal with injuries in the squad.
“We know something is building here and we know it’s only a matter of time when something good happens.”
