Noel Hunt on his fitness and Bradford CitySouthend United's Noel Hunt has had a frustrating six weeks on the sidelines & the Irish striker is looking forward to getting back on the pitch with the trip to Bradford City this weekend.
“It’s been a frustrating eight weeks, a tough one to take but we have worked hard and I’m back two weeks early so really looking forward to Saturday
After aggravating an ankle injury against Crewe Alexandra in September, the striker is finally near full fitness.
“It’s feeling alright, there’s a little bit of discomfort but that is nothing that would stop me from playing week in week out, it’s at that stage where I can now crack on
When asked if he's fit enough to play the full 90 minutes, Noel definitely put his name in the hat.
“It’s down to the Manager; I’ve done a lot of fitness recently and more running I get in the legs the better so I'm raring to go
After spending a number of weeks on the sidelines it has certainly frustrated Noel to the point where he could be injury people in front of him!
“I’m the worst spectator of football when you know you could be playing it’s really hard, I keep kicking the chairs and people in front of me from just willing the boys to do well, from now on I can be kicking the ball and not the chair in front of me
“Bradford are a big club with a big history and they’ve been in this league long enough that they really want to get out but we are going there looking for three points
“If you asked our fans if we would be where we are now at Christmas I don’t think they would expect it, the managers, staff and players are always looking to push forward and we were all gutted after the result Tuesday so hopefully we can change that Saturday.”
