Southend United's visit to Bradford City called offSouthend United’s match against Bradford City today has been called off at 1.45pm due to a waterlogged pitch.
After sustained heavy rain the pitch was deemed unplayable by the match officials with Phil Brown and Bradford Manager Phil Parkinson also agreeing.
Brown was clearly disappointed with the abandonment after preparing for the game in the week
“Obviously I’m disappointed with the game being called off, we were raring to go after the defeat to Millwall on Tuesday and we have been preparing for this fixture.
“After looking at the pitch with the officials and Phil Parkinson it was a no brainer that the game should be called off because it was simply unplayable after relentlessly raining.
“We now head back down the M1 to Sheffield to train this afternoon as we prepare for the visit of Bury on Friday.
“I’m absolutely gutted for our travelling fans, they always travel in numbers and get behind the team.”
Dates for the rearranged fixture will be announced accordingly.
